Fringe star Lance: US TV's most in-demand actor?
19/03/2009 - 12:35
Fringe star Lance Reddick has starred in US hits Lost and The Wire, but is still aware how 'precarious [his] position is'.
The Yale University graduate has made the most of looks he says aren't 'pretty', but he still knows he could quickly be back where he started.
"As I watch the industry and see what it took me to get where I am," Lance told the LA Times. "I am more aware how precarious my position is. There's no such thing as a holding pattern."
But he concedes there's an up-side to being in demand and recognised by fans. "Sometimes it's fun. I do get caught up in it."
He's about to appear in Five's new US import Fringe, as officer Phillip Broyles, but has had to work hard to get his position in the TV industry.
"I'm an artist at heart. I feel that I'm very good at what I do. When I went to drama school, I knew I was at least as talented as other students, but because I was a black man and I wasn't pretty, I knew I would have to work my butt off to be the best that I could be, and to be noticed."
