The third season of the award-winning musical comedy continues on Sky 1, airing just a few days after their US broadcast. Following two amazingly successful seasons, this year saw the series win the Golden Globe for Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy, with two of its stars – Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer – winning the awards for Best Supporting Actress/Actor. In addition, Glee has this year been nominated for no less than twelve Primetime Emmys.

The glee club's fearless director is Will Shuester (Matthew Morrison), a talented teacher with relationship problems, who is trying to steer the kids to the Nationals competition and defeat their rivals, Vocal Adrenaline, in the process. But blocking their efforts at every turn is conniving cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), whose aim is to see the glee club closed down for good. Last season saw the budding stars reach the Nationals competition in New York, only to fail to reach the final ten. Their dreams live on, however, as Will looks to bolster New Directions with new recruits.

The New Directions stars include Rachel (Lea Michele), an amazing singer with an unswerving determination to be a star, Finn (Cory Monteith), the school quarterback with a troubled love life, aspiring diva Mercedes (Amber Riley), and dim-witted cheerleaders Brittany (Heather Morris) and Santana (Naya Rivera).

As well as welcoming the winners of TV series The Glee Project to the cast, new additions include American Dreams actress Vanessa Lengies as Sugar, one of McKinley’s ‘mean girls’, and La Marcus Tinker as Marcus, a McKinley football player and Mercedes’ new love interest. In addition, Broadway star Idina Menzel will reprise her role as Rachel’s mother, Shelby.

Some things will remain the same, however, with Will and Sue renewing their warring ways after the Cheerios’ coach’s bid for political office means trouble for the glee club.
