Glee Glee's Lea Michele wants Elton to be Rachel’s dad
Sep 16, 2011

Can you tell us anything about this third series of Glee?
“This is the first time that us cast members really don’t know anything much at all. They like to keep things secret. Normally over the summer before filming you get an idea, like last year when we heard about Britney Spears appearing and the Rocky Horror episode, but this year nothing. I like being surprised, though. I love finding out, say, that next week Gwyneth Paltrow’s going to be on set as Holly Holliday. Then, I like, pee my pants with excitement!”
So what are you hoping for?
“I’m really hoping we’ll get to see Rachel’s gay dads. I know everyone’s dying to see them. Perhaps it should be at the end of the season when we’re at our big competition and she’s taking a bow, waves over and it’s Elton John and someone else incredibly famous. Imagine that for Rachel’s finale!”
Will Rachel ever get to meet her heroine Barbara Streisand?
“Phew!! What a great guest that would be. When I met Barbara Streisand in real life it was too much for me too handle, so I was glad it only lasted 10 seconds, because any longer and I’d have been flat on the floor! I can’t even imagine what Rachel would be like in front of Barbara; she’d go insane with excitement.”
Will you be disappointed if Rachel doesn’t become a big star in the end?
“Well, I definitely see Rachel going to New York with Kurt and them both going to a musical theatre college. I’m sort of determined that because of her potential, she should become a success.”
You talk about meeting these big stars, but Glee has now made you a worldwide star, too. How does that feel?
“I don’t know! We’ve all said we’re too busy to feel famous, as we’re constantly filming, rehearsing and touring. I suppose when we do things like going to the White House and singing for President Obama, those are the moments when it hits you how big things have got. I can’t believe how much our show has grown.”
Glee premieres on Thursday, September 22 at 9pm on Sky1
