Governor Malden is pleased when Tracy asks for her old job back but he's not interested in her ideas about helping people. Annoyed, she heads to the restroom but finds she's suddenly unable to control her powers and only when she calms down can she regain her human form.
Angela's attempt to boost Nathan/Sylar's memories of Nathan's earlier life triggers a vision of the death of a former girlfriend. Kelly was thought to have run away from her family but she'd died in an accident while with Nathan, and Angela had covered the incident up. Angry, Nathan/Sylar attempts to tell Kelly's mother, Millie, the truth but she won't listen. Soon after, he's knocked unconscious and taken to a wood, where he's shot and buried. But, as his assailant drives away, Sylar (no longer in Nathan's guise) erupts from the ground - his self-healing powers have kicked in...
Hiro attempts to save the life of Tadashi, who wants to commit suicide after losing his job for inappropriate behaviour at a party. He travels back in time and prevents the incident but on returning to the present he finds that Tadashi has committed the same offence at another party. He time-travels again and again only to find that Tadashi seems determined to carry out the act and, finally, Hiro convinces him that he must live his life and accept his fate. This, in turn, convinces Hiro to tell Kimiko that he is dying but after doing so he suddenly vanishes!
Claire tries to talk Noah into taking a sales position but, though he's supposed to be retired from the hero-collection business, he starts to take an interest in the stolen compass and his encounter with Edgar - something that brings him to Samuel's attention...
