In a feature-length series opener, it’s six weeks since Nathan’s death and the Heroes try to get back to normality. However, Samuel, the leader of a troupe of super-powered carnival folk, is about to disrupt their lives. His plan is to gather others like them to the carnival and he predicts our Heroes will soon join them. First, he sends Edgar, a speedster with a penchant for knives, to retrieve a compass previously owned by Joseph, Samuel’s recently deceased brother. Edgar kills Danko, who had stolen the compass, then catches up with Noah, it’s current owner, stealing it back and leaving Noah badly wounded.
Claire attends college and is shaken when her room-mate seemingly commits suicide. But when she tries to investigate the death, she inadvertently reveals her super power to her new friend, Gretchen. Hiro launches a 'Dial-a-Hero' business venture with Ando but is suddenly transported 14 years back in time to a carnival where he encounters Samuel, who clearly has plans for him.
Meanwhile, Angela is intent on restarting the Company but is concerned with Nathan/Sylar's self-doubt. Knowing he’s really Sylar with Nathan’s form and mind, she starts to recognise traits of the serial killer’s personality emerging. She asks Matt to reinforce his brainwashing job but the cop refuses to use his talents again. Then Sylar’s consciousness manifests itself in Matt’s mind and pesters him to reveal the location of his lost body.
And Peter is back in his emergency medic job, using his powers to save as many lives as he can to make up for the sins of his past. Then Noah asks for his help…
