Thanksgiving/The Fifth Element

Thanksgiving

Claire causes consternation at Noah's Thanksgiving dinner when she announces she's quitting college. Then, when Sandra's annoying new boyfriend, Doug, suggests her feelings are normal and she'll get over it, Claire shows him just how un-normal she is and cuts her arm open with a carving knife. Doug faints clean away as her arm heals in front of his eyes.

Noah tries unsuccessfully to get Claire to reconsider until Gretchen arrives - Noah had invited her to cheer Claire up. Promising to continue with her classes for now, Claire suggests she takes Gretchen to a movie, though they actually head for the carnival... and Samuel!

Meanwhile, Lydia persuades Hiro to transport her back to the day Joseph was murdered and they witness Samuel slaying his own brother. Later, at their Thanksgiving meal, Edgar openly accuses Samuel of the murder and Hiro has to freeze time to allow the speedster to escape Samuel's wrath. Furious at Hiro's betrayal and his threats to leave the carnival, Samuel calls in Damian who scrambles Hiro's mind. Hiro then promptly disappears, to Samuel's dismay.

And Angela Petrelli has her sons over for Thanksgiving dinner but Peter and Nathan/Sylar are more concerned about what she knows about Nathan's death. As Angela admits her role in the cover-up, Sylar gradually takes control of his own body and, pinning her to her chair, starts to slice open Angela's head! Nathan fights back, however, and finally regains control but, distraught, he flies off through a window.

The Fifth Stage

Samuel sends his new right-hand man, Eli, a 'multiplier' who can clone himself, to retrieve a box of Primatech Files from Noah's apartment. Noah and Lauren are trying to trace Claire when Eli shows up and lets himself in. Noah and Lauren prepare to fight but Eli disappears with the files.

Meanwhile, Peter acquires the Haitian's abilities and goes after Sylar, but his quarry finds him first. Peter blocks Sylar's powers and, after a brief fight, pins him to a table with a nail gun. Then he represses Sylar's persona and brings Nathan's personality out. But Nathan's had enough; he can't keep fighting Sylar and, despite Peter's begging, Nathan throws himself from the hospital roof. When he hits the ground below, however, it's Sylar who gets to his feet and walks away...

Samuel gives Claire and Gretchen a free tour of the carnival. Where they meet Doyle, who's found a new life there. And when an irate customer assaults Samuel, Claire intervenes and scares him off with her healing powers. Later, unaware that Samuel's followers have killed the man, Claire sends Gretchen home and decides to stay at the carnival for a few days.

The following day, Samuel gathers his 'family' at Joseph's grave and announces that it's time to start a permanent community at the site. Oblivious to Samuel's true character, Claire watches on admiringly.
