Claire becomes suspicious of Samuel, particularly when she discovers he has her father's Primatech files. After talking to Lydia she decides to investigate Samuel's trailer, though first she has to lose Eli who's been ordered to watch her. Once inside the trailer she finds a map of a nearby valley but is discovered by Doyle who's annoyed at her betrayal. She manages to convince him she's not trying to destroy his home and he refers her back to Lydia, who tells her of Samuel's murder of his brother, Joseph. But as she leaves Lydia's caravan, Eli is waiting for her...
His brains scrambled, Hiro finds himself in a busy Tokyo street but can only voice quotes from sci-fi movies and comics. He's arrested when he saves a woman from a thief and brought back to YamaGato by the police, where Ando realises he's trying to communicate. Using Hiro's stock of comic books, Ando works out that he wants to go to a psychiatric hospital in Florida. And Ando will accompany him once more.
Samuel meets with Emma Coolidge in New York City and reveals it was he who sent her the cello. He convinces her to play in Central Park and her music attracts the homeless Ian Michaels, the man Samuel is looking for. Samuel returns to the carnival with Ian but finds that Eli is holding Claire prisoner. Claire confronts him over his brother's murder and demands to know what the map is for. Samuel takes them to the valley where Ian exercises his special ability and turns the desert into a lush, green homeland for the carnival.
Impressed but disenchanted, Claire decides to leave and picks up a message from Peter on her phone. Nathan's death has been made public and she has a funeral to attend.
