Lisa Edelstein quitting House

Lisa Edelstein is checking out of the US medical drama House.

In a statement, the US actress said she is leaving the show after seven years as Dr Lisa Cuddy.

She said the decision follows much consideration and brings mixed feelings.

She expressed disappointment at leaving a character she loves playing, but said she is excited about the acting and producing opportunities ahead - though she did not give any details about any upcoming projects.

Earlier this month, Hugh Laurie suggested his award-winning lead role as the show's maverick medic Dr Gregory House could be coming to an end.

The British actor, 51, has sealed his Hollywood career starring in the hit US show, earning a reputed £256,000 an episode.

He told the Radio Times that "the end of that season, right now, looks like the end of the show".
