The Confession

Bob Harris, highly respected in his community and a loving family man, collapses while sleeping with a local beauty queen and is brought into Princeton Plainsboro. House's team, now supplemented by the returning Chase and Taub, realise what he's been up to by the carpet burns on his knees but promise to keep his secret.

Bob, however, knows he must tell his wife and, as he deals with her anger, he deteriorates further. He needs a partial liver transplant but, as many of the local townspeople gather to be tested for suitability, Bob insists on telling everyone about his infidelity. He also announces that he's been cheating people at his auto shop for years and reveals he's stolen $10,000 from the town scholarship fund he looks after and has gambled it all away.

The few that remain are not a match but Bob's liver seems to automatically repair itself. Then his skin starts to shed painfully. The team isn't sure what's happening but, when Bob confesses to several murders, too, Chase is suspicious and decides on a brain scan. Sure enough, an aneurysm is causing Bob to confess to imaginary wrong-doings, but House realises this is a symptom, not the cause. It's Kawasaki's disease; certain carpet cleaning chemicals have been linked to it and Bob's carpet burns provided him with the final clue. The right treatment will cure him completely.

Meanwhile, Taub is having difficulty coping with his two daughters. House, however, doesn't believe they're both actually Taub's and starts a betting pool in the hospital. Eventually, Taub gives in to pressure to take a paternity test but House intercepts the results and gives Taub the option of seeing them or shredding them. To House’s surprise, Taub decides to shred them. He loves his daughters no matter what...
