Lie To Me

After two hugely successful series, the US TV show Lie To Me is returning to screens this month on Sky1.
Brit actor and Academy Award nominee Tim Roth is back in action as Dr Cal Lightman, the world’s leading deception expert or, otherwise, a human lie detector.
Helped by his team of gifted experts in the fields of psychology and behavioural analysis Cal assists federal law enforcement and government agencies in their search for the truth behind the lies.
Cal’s team use their scientific abilities to detect lies from a person’s body language and facial expressions. From the tone of voice, to a shrugged shoulder or even a raised upper lip, they will be able to spot who’s not telling the truth.
Cal’s innate ability to read feelings, ranging from hidden resentment to sexual attraction to jealousy, is a gift in his professional life, but often a curse in his personal life, where family and friends seem to deceive each other as readily as criminals and strangers do.
Series three of the critically-acclaimed show sees the return of Dr Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams), a talented and level-headed psychologist, Eli Loker (Brendan Hines), a researcher whose belief in complete honesty frequently gets him into trouble, Ria Torres (Monica Raymund), a natural at deception detection, and Ben Reynolds (Mekhi Phifer), a quick-thinking FBI agent who is a valuable part of The Lightman Group.
Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, a contractor for the Secret Service, the first episode of series three entitled In The Red sees Cal going to great lengths to prevent a man fuelled by revenge from robbing a bank.
Lie To Me series three begins on Wednesday, 20 October at 10pm on Sky1.
