Locke asks Sawyer to venture over to Hydra island to explore the Ajira Airways plane that crashed there, claiming that is how they will escape from island.

There, Sawyer discovers that someone has killed all the survivors of the crash, except a woman named Zoe who claims to have escaped. Sawyer realises she's lying and, when confronted, Zoe captures him and takes him to meet Charles Widmore on the submarine.

Widmore makes a deal with Sawyer – if Sawyer helps lure Locke into a trap, Widmore will allow all of Sawyer's friends leave the island on the sub.

Sawyer returns to Locke and tells him that he has made a deal with Widmore, but is willing to double cross him.

However, Sawyer later tells Kate that he's setting up both Widmore and Locke, and that they'll escape while the island's enemies are busy fighting each other.

Meanwhile, Claire tries to kill Kate for taking Aaron off the island. Locke splits the pair up and apologises for Claire's behaviour. Locke reveals to Kate that he feels sorry for Aaron as he, too, had an insane mother.

In the other reality, Sawyer is a cop and his partner is Miles! Miles sets Sawyer up on a disastrous date with Charlotte.

Sawyer confesses to Miles that he's seeking the man responsible for his parents' deaths, but before Miles can say anything, their car is hit by another vehicle – driven by Kate.
