Jensen Ackles gives some Supernatural 5 hints

Supernatural's Jensen Ackles has given fans a sneak peek at what to expect when the show returns next year.

The fourth series, which ends its run on ITV2 on Sunday, has seen Ackles' wise-cracking Dean and Jared Padalecki's brooding Sam trying to stop all Hell from breaking loose, and speaking to E!News recently, Ackles believes the war between Heaven and Hell is set to continue into the next series, with the Winchester boys stuck right in the middle.

"I don't think we're necessarily going to be the focal point of anybody's hunt," says Ackles. "We're going to lend whatever help we can to Castiel and the angels to do their job. But what that is, I don't know."

Whether the boys will be the focal point of the approaching Apocalypse or not will also depend on whether the brothers patch things up and how Sam will cope with his addiction. "That demon stuff is still coursing through his veins, and he's got that to deal with," says Ackles.

Filming on the new series will start in early July.
