Lost's Jacob joins Supernatural

The fourth series of Supernatural ended with Lucifer rising, and now the news is out that Lost star Mark Pellegrino will play the prince of darkness.

Lost fans know him as Jacob, the mysterious ruler of the Island, who got topped off by Ben in the last series. And Dexter fans will recall him as Rita's abusive ex-husband who got framed by everyone's favourite serial killer.

According to EW.com, 44-year-old Pellegrino has been cast as Lucifier in Supernatural's fifth (and probably final) series, who will wage war on the Winchester boys, Castiel and his angel cohorts.

But for Lost fans concerned about whether Jacob will return for the show's final series, don't fret. Although no official word has been given by ABC, the fact that Pellegrino is listed as a 'recurring' character could mean he will do both shows.

In other Supernatural news, two former characters will be resurrected for the fifth series. First, vengeful demon Meg will be back making the Winchester boys' lives a misery, and former Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki will return to the show as Jessica, Sam's girlfriend, who was killed by Azazel in the first series.

As for Meg, show creator Eric Kripke told TV Guide that he has always been keen on bringing the character back. This time round though former Californication actress Rachel Miner will step into the shoes of the devilish demon, which was originally played by Nicki Aycox.

Series five of Supernatural will screen in the US in the autumn.
