Supernatural moves to Living

The fifth season of Supernatural will be shown on Living after Virgin Media scooped the rights to the cult show from ITV2.

The deal also gives the channel exclusive rights to a possible sixth series, as well as the rights to air the first four series, which starts with the pilot episode on Thursday August 6 at 9pm.

"Supernatural has had an awful lot of interest and, as the home of the best in paranormal drama, we're thrilled to have secured it," said Amy Barham, head of acquisitions for Virgin Media Television.

The fourth series of the drama drew an average audience of 870,000 during its run on ITV2, marking an 11.5 per cent increase from the previous series.

Creator Eric Kripke spoke out on the subject of a sixth series to E! News at the recent Comic-Con event in San Diego.

He said: "There was a five-year plan and we are in the fifth year of that story. This is the last chapter of this volume and we plan on telling it well and climactically, but we are certainly also batting around ideas and there's no reason there can't be another volume."
