Supernatural series seven spoiler alert!

While Supernatural fans in the UK are still just getting into series six on Sky Living HD, the cast and crew of US series are now gearing up for the upcoming seventh season, which premieres in the US in late September.

At the recent Comic-Con in San Diego, Supernatural boss Sera Gamble was keeping very quiet about what happens after the season six cliffhanger, but did offer a few tantalising tit-bits.

One of those tit-bits was a sneak peek at the third episode of the new series, in which Jensen Ackles (Dean) takes over the director’s chair. In it, we see a young Sam fall in love with a girl who uses the alias Amy Pond (a little nod to our very own sci-fi series, Doctor Who, no doubt).

Good news for fans is the list of returning characters, including Death (Julian Richings), Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and Jo Harvelle (Alona Tal), as well as series regulars Castiel (Misha Collins) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) - who are having the lion’s share of the storylines in the current series.

One of the intriguing questions raised by fans at Comic-Con, however, was whether the Winchesters would be travelling once more to alternate universes like they did in the series five episode, Changing Channels, where they ended up in a sitcom version of Supernatural?

Well, according to writer/producer Ben Edlund, anything is possible.
