Supernatural's Misha Collins becomes cast regular

Misha Collins - who plays the angel Castiel in Supernatural - is set to spread his wings in the fifth and final series of the spooky drama.

With the fourth series of the hit US drama now well over the halfway point, Collins says he will feature big-time in six crucial episodes.

Misha said: "The biggest thing for Castiel is going to be his struggle with his doubt about the orders he's getting from Heaven."

And as the current series unfolds, fans of the doubting angel in a trench coat will get to learn more about Castiel's origins and about the devout man he was before he earned his wings.

With Misha recently announcing in the US press that he has signed on to return next year, it now looks like Castiel and his angel cohorts will be with us for a little bit longer. And judging from reports, we could see Misha in 17 of next year's 22 episodes.

This is great news for the 35-year-old, a former White House intern and published poet, who has spent most of his acting career as a guest star in high-profile TV shows like NYPD Blue, 24, CSI, ER and most recently Nip/Tuck.
