Will Supernatural get a sixth series?

Fear not Supernatural fans, ITV2’s demon-hunting show may return for two more series, according to its stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

Appearing in Birmingham at the weekend for the show's European convention, Asylum 3, the lads confirmed that they both have six-year contracts, meaning that if the show’s makers, the CW, pick up Supernatural for a sixth series, Jared and Jensen will both be in it.

Now that’s great news for fans, but what about the show’s creator Eric Kripke? Just recently, Kripke said he had a five-year contract and planned the show accordingly. So, if the CW does renew Supernatural for a sixth series, there are two possibilities: Either the network signs Kripke to a new contract, or continues on without his input.

In an interview with the Coventry Telegraph, Jared also mentioned that his 'best guess' was that Supernatural would be renewed once again. But fans will have to wait until January to find out if the elusive sixth series will get the nod.

In the meantime, series four, which is ending soon on ITV2, has had its best ratings yet in the US.
