Let It Bleed (VIDEO)

In 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island, an unseen force kills fantasy writer HP Lovecraft. In the present day, Bobby and the boys discuss the journal stolen by Castiel that refers to Lovecraft, who wrote about portals that gave access to Purgatory.

Meanwhile, Lisa and Ben are kidnapped by Crowley who wants to stop the brothers from getting in his way. The brothers call on Balthazar, but he refuses to help.

Through a Lovecraft fan, Sam and Dam discover the writer and some of his close friends tried opening the gate to Purgatory, but they all ended up dead or insane. Bobby tracks down the last survivor and is shocked to discover the old man’s mother is Ellie (the dragon-slaying sword owner). Ellie is actually an immortal who escaped Purgatory, but she refuses to tell Bobby how to open the portal.

Meanwhile, Balthazar meets with Castiel and agrees to help the angel with his ongoing war in Heaven despite the fact he is in league with Crowley. Balthazar then helps the brothers in tracking down Lisa and Ben – but Lisa becomes possessed by a demon that stabs her body to stop an exorcism spell. At the hospital, Castiel heals the dying Lisa and wipes all memories of Dean from both her and Ben.

The episode ends with Castiel taking Ellie captive at her safe house.
