It's six months since Patrick Jane was sacked from the CBI and it looks like he's hit rock bottom. He's been conning people in Las Vegas and gets into trouble with the police, eventually being bailed out of jail by friendly cocktail waitress Lorelei. She and Jane spend the night together but the following morning she tells him she's been sent by Red John. He's offering Jane a new life and wants Jane to join him as a disciple. But he'll need to prove himself first - he wants Jane to kill Teresa Lisbon and to bring him her body...
Meanwhile, Lisbon and the team hear that Jane's been arrested and Lisbon is surprised when he suddenly turns up in a church to tell her that the last six months has been part of his plan to catch Red John. And it looks like he's taken the bait...
