Mentalist's Owain explains British success in LA

The Mentalist star Owain Yeoman credits a lack of 'menly men' for the success of British and Aussie actors in Hollywood.

The Welshman plays Detective Wayne Rigsby in the hit CBS series, which screens on Channel 5 in the UK, and the 6ft 4in actor told whatsontv.co.uk why he believes he's succeeded in LA.

"There's a real lack of men in America, their leading guys are boyish, your Brad Pitts, your Johnny Depps, they're such good-looking guys there's something eternally boyish about them..." he said. "And if you look at your Eric Banas, your Russell Crowes it's no surprise they're importing them from places where clearly we're feeding them a lot of porridge, or we're just down in the mines.

"A combination of all those things and I'm quite sure we're cheaper too!"

The Mentalist concludes on Channel 5 tonight (Friday).
