Where in the World is Carmine O'Brien

Lisbon's team investigate the shooting of local police chief Marnie Green who's been found dead in the woods and Jane quickly surmises she'd been brought there and finished off. At the chief's home Lisbon is amazed to find her brother, Tommy, and his daughter Annie already searching the place. Tommy has become a bounty hunter and is after white-collar criminal Carmine O'Brien who's on the run. The chief had been helping him trace O'Brien.

The team find that Chief Green had been trying to build a case against a Dmitri Zubov for sexual assault at a local spa but the victim wouldn't testify. Spa manager Chad Carmichael gives the team the relevant security tape and it looks as if Zubov is guilty but Jane's sure he's not the murderer. Then Lisbon discovers that the chief had been talking to a woman who had asked her to bring her addict son, Stephen, back from a cabin in the woods where the boy bought drugs.

Rigsby visits the cabin and finds Stephen's body. He and the chief were both shot there. Jane sets a plan in motion, making it look as if Carmine O'Brien had witnessed the shootings. O'Brien has been picked up and Jane sneaks him out to Tommy, telling him to collect Annie from the spa. He then tells Chad the bounty hunter is on his way with O'Brien.

Chad offers Tommy money to lose O'Brien in Mexico but Tommy refuses and, after a brief scuffle, Lisbon arrests the spa manager. Chad and Stephen were dealing cocaine when they'd been disturbed by Chief Green, and the spa manager claims he'd had no choice but to kill them both. Chad had believed Jane's ruse that O'Brien had witnessed the shootings, thereby exposing his murderous role when Tommy arrived.

Meanwhile, Jane sends Van Pelt undercover as a masseuse at the spa, successfully trapping Zubov.
