True Blood's Anna happy to be offside with husband

Anna Paquin doesn't mind that things aren't working out between her True Blood character and Stephen Moyer's - because they're so happy in real life.

The Oscar-winning actress appeared at a panel event to promote the fourth series of the hit vampire show, which is mid-series in the US.

Appearing alongside her husband, who plays her character Sookie's love interest Bill, Anna said she was comfortable with the fact that their on-screen characters were not together, E! reports.

She said: "Our love in real life is fine, so I'm fine with our characters being distraught and sad.

"It's not interesting television if everything works out for Bill and Sookie and they adopt five babies and live happily ever after."

At the same event the series creator Alan Ball announced that, contrary to the rumours, he was sticking around for series five.

Anna got together with Stephen when they met filming the pilot of True Blood in 2007, and they married last year.
