Ugly Betty star 'broken-hearted' about its axe

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz has revealed how disappointed she was when she discovered that the hit comedy was going to be axed.
The Latina actress - known for portraying Betty's feisty sister Hilda Suarez in the show - was gutted when she discovered it was not being recommissioned, but admitted she had a feeling the end was nigh.
"I was really sad," she said. "I was really broken-hearted, to be honest. We saw the writing on the wall, I think we knew it was coming because we were being moved around time slots and things... but even though you prepare yourself, you're never really prepared."
Ana said it is weird not having Ugly Betty in her life now. "Especially now, because now is when we would be starting up again," she continued. "It's strange - but we had a wonderful run. I'll definitely miss playing her, but I'm ready to move on as well."
But the 39-year-old said she has relished being part of such a ground-breaking show.
"Ultimately it's a TV show and I know that, right? But, that being said, for a while we were the only Mexican family on TV in a nation that is one half Latinos, and we're not represented on television at all. I just think it was a really important show at the right time," she added.
