Betty wants to invite Matt as her plus-one, but is disappointed when he mentions he’ll be taking a date. He invites Amanda, who then feels bad for Betty and hopes to find her a date by running an ad for ‘plus-size chicas’.

Meanwhile, a detective called Castelar visits Wilhelmina, telling her he has evidence that Nico murdered her boyfriend Jonathan. He then blackmails her for cash to keep quiet. Wilhelmina gets Marc on the case to dish some dirt on Castelar.

Daniel hires his friend Natalie as his new assistant, who never seems far from Daniel’s side. When Daniel walks in on Clare and Hartley kissing, he can’t deal with it and upsets his mother who tries to explain they were an item in the past.

Wilhelmina catches up with Castelar with a dominatrix, only to discover it’s the wrong Castelar. So who is blackmailing her?

At the party Matt walks in with a date, and Amanda learns she was one of six plus-ones, who he felt should enjoy the editors' privilege too. Betty shows up alone, in Hilda's tiger-print dress, proudly altered by Justin who called it his ‘Project Runway’ moment.

Nico meets up with a man – ‘Castelar’ who turns out to be the very-much-alive Jonathan. They discuss their final plans to swindle Wilhelmina for the cash.

Clare, meanwhile, tries to track down the son she had adopted.
