BBC America has ordered a second season of Greek mythology series Atlantis after the British drama was a hit with viewers.
The fantasy adventure, set in a world of legendary heroes and mythical creatures and starring Jack Donnelly as Jason and Mark Addy (pictured) as Hercules, was created to fill the gap left by Merlin.
In the UK it has been shown on BBC One, where it became the biggest new Saturday night drama series launch across all channels since 2006, even up on the launch of Merlin.
BBC One announced last month that it would show a second series of the drama, with the entire cast returning.
Now the US has done the same with BBC America’s Richard De Croce saying. “Atlantis is off to a fantastic start and is the centerpiece of our Saturday nights for the next 12 weeks.
“We’re committed to bringing our viewers even more entertaining episodes inspired by Greek mythology from Howard and the talented team in season two.”
The series follows the adventures of Jason, Hercules and Pythagoras who battle against some of the most famous names of Greek legend.
