Simon Timblick

Freelance Features Writer

Simon Timblick has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves over-the-top plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has been a regular writer for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, What’s On TV, Radio Times, TVTimes, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl and Toxic! For several years he also produced online content for kids TV channel Nickelodeon built around popular shows like Rugrats, Spongebob Squarepants and Dora The Explorer.

He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

His long-time favourite soap is Neighbours and he thinks the long-running storyline involving lookie-likie conwoman Andrea Somers and the SHOCK revelation that Toadie Rebecchi’s doomed first wife Dee Bliss isn’t really dead is one of the most bonkers/MUST-SEE moments in Ramsay Street history!

As well as soap operas, Simon is also a big horror fan (especially of 80s slasher movies like Friday The 13th and the countless Halloween sequels!) and previously challenged himself to scriptwrite, direct and edit a (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night’s EVIL.

He is currently at work on a 10th anniversary follow-up, a webisodes series called The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
