Benedict Garrett has become the third person to be evicted from the Big Brother 2012 house after losing out to Lauren Carre in Friday’s public vote.

The former teacher turned porn star had been the bookies’ favourite to leave, following a week in which he had angered housemates with his overly frank conversations, and also pulled a stunt in which he laced Luke Scrase’s protein shake mix with curry powder.

And when the result was announced, he was revealed to have polled fewer votes than Lauren – and promptly exited the house in style, taking a chair from the house and holding it above his head as he left.

However the unusual souvenir was quickly confiscated by a security guard as Benedict returned to the outside world – leaving the other housemates wondering if they would be punished as a result of his stunt.

Afterwards he explained that Emma Willis, host of Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, had put him up to it.

“Your colleagues asked us to steal something from the house,” he said. “I was gonna give it back to you.”

He also defended himself against his outspoken behaviour, saying he was not surprised it had provoked such a reaction.

“I have strong opinions,” he said. “I made myself known, and I don’t expect everybody to agree with them.

“I think partially I’m out because of my opinions,” Benedict added, “and I have had some similar experiences already, but Lauren would have grown more from this than me.”

Benedict’s exit follows those of Victoria Eisermann – who was evicted two weeks ago just days after arriving in the house, and Chris James, who got the boot last Friday.

Housemates will nominate again on Monday to determine who will face next weekend’s public vote.
