Big Brother‘s latest evictee Gerry has admitted he learned a lot about himself during his time in the house.
“Before I came here, it was used in the auditions as a cliche,” he told Davina McCall during his eviction interview, “that you want to go on Big Brother because you’ll learn so many things about yourself.”
“But you do learn an awful lot about yourself – and I learned to like myself just a little bit.
The 31-year-old – who barely stopped smiling and talking throughout his eviction interview – also said he was surprised by the enthusiastic response he received from the crowd when he left.
“They were wonderful,” he exclaimed. “I was expecting the wolves!”
Gerry was also full of praise for his fellow housemates, describing the twins as “adorable” and Kara-Louise as “classy” – and he also revealed he had a soft spot for Brian.
“Brian is very very intelligent, he is just very insecure about it,” Gerry said. “But I think I’ve finally persuaded him to visit a museum.”
Only Tracey had failed to impress the gallery researcher. “She is the only one left in the house who I wouldn’t like to see win it,” he confessed. “I’m amazed she has a huge fan club. She’s playing a game, she’s there to win and she’ll change her friends in order to survive till the end.”
As for his reputation as the house intellectual, given to boring people by talking about history, he admitted that he was indeed a “geek – but a trendy geek” – and while he may have bored others, he often found the whole Big Brother experience tedious.
“I did have things in common with the others but after a while you get bored of water fights and you want to talk about something else, and after Jonathan left I had no-one to talk to for a long time.”
Although Gerry received only half the amount of votes as Carole – who scored 49 per cent of the public vote – he was booted from the house after being chosen for eviction by gurus Tracey, Ziggy and the twins.
