Big Brother ‘s newest arrival Becky Hannon has become the favourite to win the series, despite having been in the house less than 24 hours.

The 19-year-old student, who was voted in by the public as a ‘wild card’ housemate on Friday night shortly after Victoria Eisermann had been evicted, made her mark early on by jumping into the pool just minutes after she arrived.

And her grand entrance appears to have made an impact with the bookies, who are offering odds of 40-1 on her taking the series title, ahead of previous favourites Benedict Garret and Luke Anderson.

“Very rarely have we had a new housemate enter the show and become favourite straight away,” said Joe Crilly of William Hill.

“Maybe she just seems like the ideal housemate because of who she is replacing.”

Becky was given the opportunity to win immunity from the next public vote by winning a secret mission in which she had to charm the others enough for one of them to name her as their favourite housemate.

If she fails to win over any of them, however, she will automatically face the next public vote.
