Rachael White has become the first person to be evicted from the Big Brother 2010 house, with 37.5 per cent of the public vote.
The Beyonce lookalike lost out to fellow nominees Shabby and Sunshine, despite having not initially been nominated for eviction by her fellow housemates.
She found herself facing the public vote after Dave – who was up for eviction – won a task earlier in the week and chose her to take his place.
And she reacted calmly to the news, despite having admitted earlier she would be “devastated” if she had to leave.
“It’s OK,” she told the others, “I knew it.”
However Sunshine – whose name had been chanted by the crowd outside before the announcement – looked shocked to discover she would be spending another week in the house.
In a new twist to the eviction announcements, Davina McCall revealed first that Shabby was safe from the chop, before returning a few minutes later to give the housemates the final result.
Having entered the house on opening night to a chorus of boos from the crowd, Rachael received a more positive response on her exit.
“Your reception was better when you came out than when you went in,” Davina told her.
