Big Brother set to kick off on Tuesday

The new series of Big Brother is set to begin on Channel 5 on Tuesday night, with a quirky line-up of housemates promised – and a series of twists.

According to reports the new crop of housemates will include a ‘jack the lad’ footballer and a former Playboy bunny, as well as a former Los Angeles gang member with 14 sisters and a teacher turned porn star.

And the newcomers are set to face a major twist just minutes after they have entered the house – with rumours that they will face live nominations shortly after meeting their fellow housemates.

The two housemates with the most votes will face the public vote on Friday – and as they leave a ‘wildcard’ housemate voted for by the public will be added.

The newcomer will be chosen from a trio of housemates who were initially rejected by the producers – and who reportedly include a flute-playing Doctor Who fan, a flamboyant gay receptionist and a bolshy student.

Big Brother’s Bit On The Side presenter Jamie East has said he played a part in choosing the wildcard candidates after they had been turned down.

“As a fan of the show I wanted to find people that I knew would never have got into the house normally,” he said. “The fact that all my choices were originally thrown out by the producers makes them even more appealing.

“I honestly believe that whoever gets voted in will make the final. And I would love it if they won.”

The potential new housemates will be introduced during a special show at 8pm ahead of the main show at 9pm.
