Chris James has become the second housemate to be evicted from this year’s Big Brother following the latest public vote.
The 21-year-old doorman – who had been the bookies’ favourite to get the boot – lost out to fellow nominee Arron Lowe after receiving the lowest number of votes from viewers choosing who they wanted to save.
And he looked upset when he learned the news, although was quickly reassured by his housemates who hugged him as he prepared to leave.
Afterwards Chris – who received a mixed response from the crowd – blamed the number of housemates on his early exit.
“There were too many players, that’s why I’m out,” he told host Brian Dowling.
“I thought I’d last a little bit longer. I’m not gonna lie, I’m disappointed, but everything happens for a reason.”
He also made no secret of his dislike for wild card Becky Hannon, saying he found the 19-year-old “quite annoying” and wanted her evicted from the house next week – and added that he believed some of his fellow housemates were fake.
“No one was themselves,” he said. “I was surprised how many people were acting up in there.”
Chris’ departure followed that of model Victoria Eisermann, who was voted out last Friday just days after arriving in the house.
The housemates will nominate once again on Monday with the next eviction taking place next Friday night.
