Jade Goody has been confronted in hospital by an woman leaning over her bed wielding a hammer, according to reports.
The BBC News website says that the intruder entered her room at the Royal Marsden Hospital in West London on Sunday afternoon after her husband Jack Tweed had left her bedside for a few minutes.
Her publicist Max Clifford said the former Big Brother star, who has terminal cancer, had not been hurt in the incident but was “badly shaken up”.
Scotland Yard said that a 41-year-old woman had been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.
Clifford told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat that the intruder went into Jade’s room after Tweed left to get a cup of tea.
Jade apparently woke up to find the woman leaning over her “muttering or praying” – and alerted medical staff who came to her room.
“She obviously freaked out,” Clifford said. “It’s very distressing, particularly when you are so weak and so vulnerable.
It has made her even keener to try and get home as soon as possible.”
Jade – who was christened along with her two sons on Saturday – has expressed a wish to die at her home in Essex.
Security at the hospital has been stepped up following the incident.
