Jade Goody has been smiling through her painful final days thanks to the large amount of flowers she has received from the public, a friend said.

And the cancer-stricken former Big Brother star sent a message of thanks to her wellwishers.

“Jade just says thanks everyone for the flowers and that her house now smells like the Chelsea Flower Show and it brought a smile to her face,” her personal trainer and friend Kevin Adams told reporters outside her home in Upshire, Essex.

Her mother Jackiey Budden added, “I just want to thank the whole public for the support they’ve given Jade and the presents and the flowers and all the support cards.”

She also spoke about morale in Jade’s home, where she is being cared for by Macmillan nurses.

“Me, Jack Tweed and Kevin are the ones who really are in the house looking after Jade with the nurses. We just break down every three minutes and then we start being stupid and try to laugh against each other and that’s how we’re coping.”

Meanwhile, the Press Complaints Commission said it has received around 120 complaints from the public about this week’s edition of OK! Magazine, which was a “tribute” issue to the 27-year-old.

The cover of the magazine featured a black border and the coverline “In Loving Memory”, as well as the headline “Jade Goody 1981-2009”.

A spokesman for the Commission said most of those complaining had been concerned about the impact the issue would have on Jade’s family.

He added that they do not normally investigate complaints made by third parties but if members of the public wanted to make a case for an inquiry they would listen to it.
