Brian Dowling, Nikki Grahame and Chantelle Houghton are battling it out for the Ultimate Big Brother crown after four evictions on the final night.

Ulrika Jonsson finished in seventh place and was the first person to be evicted during the final of the show, which brings the decade-long series to an end.

Pop star Preston finished in sixth place, while Big Brother 1 housemate ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman was fifth. Fourth place went to Big Brother 5’s Victor Ebuwa.

Brian – who won Big Brother 2 is the bookies’ favourite to take the title, followed by Chantelle, who found fame after becoming the only ‘non-celebrity’ to win Celebrity Big Brother.

Ulrika – who left the house to a largely positive response from the crowd – told Davina McCall that she returned to the house hoping to enjoy the experience, but hadn’t fancied her chances of actually winning.

“I didn’t think for a moment there was a chance of me actually winning,” she admitted. “This is Ultimate Big Brother and there are huge fanbases out there for housemates throughout the years.

“I kind of threw myself into things a different way,” the TV presenter added. “The only person who could support me on the outside was me and I had some wonderful people in there to talk to and a great support network.”

Preston, meanwhile, kept everybody guessing when he told Chantelle “I’ll see you shortly,” as he made his exit from the house.

And he told Davina that his ex-wife was a “flipping great girl” but gave no hint that the pair would get back together.

“I still remember why we split up,” he said, “but I remembered all the things I’d forgotten about during those times. Because it wasn’t just a glossy magazine break-up, it was really dark for both of us. But we’ve moved on. I think we’ve matured in different directions anyway.”

Meanwhile Nick – who was also warmly greeted by the crowd – said he felt grateful for the chance to shake off the “nasty” tag which he had had since the first series of the show.

“I’m glad I did this show and people have seen the real me rather than just a child in a man’s body,” he said.

Victor was next out of the house – and said afterwards that he felt “fantastic”.

“I’m glad to be here because I’ve never been to a final before!” he admitted.

“Last time, where I went wrong I was just trying to hot people up the whole time. This time I thought ‘I have to actually get to the final to have a chance’. I decided I was just going to treat people how they treated me.”
