The winner of the second series of America’s Got Talent was revealed on Tuesday night.
Ventriloquist Terry Fator beat off stiff competition from singers Cas Haley and Julienne Irwin and beatbox extraordinare Butterscotch to bag the $1,000,000 prize.
In Tuesday night’s final, Terry brought the house down with his turtle puppet Winston singing ‘Crying’, impersonating Roy Orbison. Later, he performed a duet with legendary Muppet Kermit The Frog.
Following his triumph, Terry confessed that he never expected to win.
“I really didn’t,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I told Cas before the show, ‘I really think you’re gonna win this thing’. All of the top ten were just phenomenal talents.”
“To win this thing is beyond my wildest dreams,” he added. “I’m just totally blown away.”
Terry’s turtle puppet Winston had plenty to say too. “Thank you, America, for your votes and thank you so much for supporting me,” he said, with Terry adding: “Winston thanks you, too. He worked really hard on that number.”
America’s Got Talent is hosted by Jerry Springer, and features judges David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne.
