Ant and Dec have admitted that they still cannot believe they are top of the charts with their 1994 track Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble.
The pair leapt to number one with the track after performing it on last weekend’s Saturday Night Takeaway – and said they were amazed by the reaction.
“This week has been crazy! We never expected such an amazing reaction to us performing the song on the show. To be number one in the official charts is just unbelievable,” Ant told Officialcharts.com.
Dec was equally enthusiastic, saying: “To get a number one single with this song 19 years later is very surreal, but we’re genuinely chuffed.”
The Britain’s Got Talent twosome – who have said all profits from sales of the chart-topper will be donated to Childline – revealed that they only took to the stage to fill a spot in last Saturday’s show, which also featured acts from ITV2’s The Big Reunion.
“The production team on Saturday Night Takeaway went mad, ‘Oh yeah, we remember that song. Let’s do it’,” Ant explained.
Dec added: “We did a little bit of rehearsal on Thursday. We had four hours in our schedule, to rehearse the dance. We spent an hour and it all came back to us. We’ve obviously done it so many times in the past.”
However they have also made it clear that a PJ and Duncan comeback is not on the cards.
“This won’t be the start of anything,” Dec told Capital FM earlier this week. “This is the start, the middle and the end of everything.
“There won’t be any follow-up singles. We’re quite happy with our television career. This is just some bizarre weird thing that’s happened, and let’s move on.”
