Ant and Dec are reportedly to stay signed up to ITV, but will take a pay cut in light of the recession.

The Sun claims the Geordie duo – who host hit shows Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity… and Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – will stay in the golden handcuffs deal with the channel, but will take a five per cent pay cut on their £20 million pay packets.

A spokesman for ITV said: “We do not comment on artists’ pay.”

But an ITV source apparently told The Sun: “Watching the boys on form on Britain’s Got Talent is something to behold. It clearly shows that we have to do everything we can to make sure we keep them exclusive.”

“It’s all about making Ant and Dec work on their plans for the future and helping them become even bigger stars.”

Ant and Dec, both 33, have told how they are willing to take a cut in their salaries as their three-year deal ends this year.

Ant said: “Everybody is suffering – it’s global – but what we’re interested in is making great shows.”

Dec added: “Our relationship with ITV is a big thing. We still have three really big shows. I don’t know if we’d have enough time to do a project on another channel.”
