Ant and Dec’s reign at the top of the UK charts has come to an end after just one week in the number one spot.
The TV presenting duo had soared to number one last week with their 1994 hit Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble, after performing it on a recent Saturday Night Takeaway.
However the pair plummeted to number six, as the top spot was taken by British DJ Duke Dumont with his track Need U (100%).
Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble originally reached number nine in 1994, with Ant and Dec performing as their Byker Grove alter egos PJ and Duncan.
However the TV twosome have said that despite the unexpected success of the track it is unlikely to lead to them making a musical comeback.
“Let me just quash that rumour now, this won’t be the start of anything. This is the start, the middle and the end of everything,” Dec recently told Capital FM.
“There won’t be any follow-up singles. We’re quite happy with our television career. This is just some bizarre weird thing that’s happened, and let’s all just move on.’
The pair also revealed they had only performed the song on the show – which also featured acts from ITV2’s The Big Reunion – in order to fill a gap in the running time.
“It was all just a joke,’ Ant admitted. “We thought we could possibly dust off the old baseball caps and give it a go for a laugh and the production team on Saturday Night Takeaway went mad,’ said Ant. “We thought, ‘Oh it will be a bit of a laugh, we’ll do it’. We never expected we’d be No. 1 in the charts.”
