Britain’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell hits golden buzzer for Bars and Melody

Teenage rappers Bars and Melody were the last act of the night and moved the Britain’s Got Talent audience to tears with their self-penned anti-bullying rap.

“Push that gold! Push that gold!” chanted the audience when the boys finished – and Simon Cowell reached over and hit the golden buzzer.

“I’m just happy for you,” Amanda Holden told the lads, as they sobbed on stage.

“For two young kids to come out and sing about something that affects you in your own style is amazing,” added David Walliams.

“You know what,” Simon said to the boys. “I listened to every word of your song. I think it could be a hit. I really, really like you two.”

And with that, the boys were straight through to the live semi-finals, along with Amanda’s granny dancer Paddy, David’s singer of dubious quality Christian Spirod and Alesha Dixon’s girl group REAformed.

That just leaves Ant and Dec to go for gold.

Britain’s Got Talent auditions continue on ITV on Saturday, May 17
