Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has said that Susan Boyle is just resting, following reports that she has gone into a clinic to be treated for exhaustion.
Reports claimed that Susan was rushed to the private Priory clinic after displaying erratic behaviour after losing out to dance troupe Diversity in the final of the ITV1 show on Saturday night.
Susan apparently started ‘running amok’ backstage shouting: ‘I hate this show’.
But Piers told GMTV that Scottish spinster Susan – who became a YouTube sensation following her first audition for the show – had simply gone into the clinic to recuperate following a whirlwind seven weeks.
He told Kate Garraway: “I spoke to Susan yesterday and she’s fine – she’s gone in for some rest.
“She needs to get away from everyone, from the show, from the media, from the public and just have a bit of time to sleep, to eat to do all the things that, in the last week, she’s found difficult.”
Piers also insisted that Susan would not be thrust back into the spotlight before she was ready.
He said: “There are no deals yet. The idea that Simon Cowell is totally oblivious to what’s going on and just wants to make money out of her could not be further from the truth.
“Simon, like everybody, wants her to be OK. We are told by her doctors everything’s fine, she’s just tired. Any suggestion of deals and offers will be whatever Susan wants.”
Prime Minister Gordon Brown also appeared on GMTV, where he wished Susan Boyle well.
“I hope Susan Boyle is OK because she is a really, really nice person and I think she will do well.
“I spoke to Simon Cowell last night and to Piers Morgan and wanted to be sure that she was OK.”
