Simon Cowell has revealed that after finding his perfect dancing dog act on Britain’s Got Talent 2012, he is now hoping to go one better – and find a dancing cat.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed his ambitions as he arrived at the at the London Palladium for the latest round of auditions.

“A dancing cat. No one’s ever done it. It’s obvious. Yeah, a dancing pussy,” he said.

The talent show judge also admitted how important ratings were to him, saying: “Also people liking the show is good, but the two kind of go together. You don’t want the figures to go down. You want them to go up. And it’s going to be very competitive but I’m used to that.”

Simon arrived late at the auditions on Sunday afternoon, telling the waiting crowds he had been “caught in the snow” – although the adverse weather did not appear to deter Amanda Holden, who showed up in a backless black dress – and promptly told the press that Simon’s tardiness was his worst habit.

“The good things are he’s naughty, he’s fun, he’s generous, he’s mischievous,” she said.

“The bad things are he’s always bloody late. Everything starts at, like, 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Some of us have got lives…children.”

Fellow judge David Walliams added: “He’s a very funny man and he’s great to spend time with. The only thing is he likes starting work quite late, so he’s probably still in bed now, so he won’t be here for a couple of hours.”

When Simon did eventually show up, he admitted that he missed being a judge on The X Factor, and would love to return – following speculation that he is set to return for the next series – but added that it was unlikely.

“It’s all to do with timing,” he revealed. “It would be impossible to do the English show and the American show together. You’d just be knackered and it wouldn’t work. If the scheduling was different then of course I’d come back and do the English show. I miss doing it.”
