Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle has been mobbed as she arrived in Los Angeles to appear on the US equivalent of the show that made her famous.

More than 2,000 fans were there to greet the Scottish singing sensation, chanting “We love Susan” as the Scottish singing sensation touched down at LAX Airport.

She will be appearing on America’s Got Talent later this week where she will perform her debut single, a cover of the Rolling Stones ballad Wild Horses.

The 48-year-old appeared visibly moved by the crowds who had gathered to see her, saying “Oh my word, is this for me?”

Security at the airport was tight, with more than 50 police officers on hand – while Boyle, who is making her first ever visit to the US, will be accompanied by six bodyguards to protect her from over-enthusiastic fans.

“She had no idea the reaction would be quite so amazing,” a source close to the singer said. “She kept joking, ‘it’s like the Beatles’.”

Boyle – who was given a police escort to her hotel, thanked the fans and told them she was “overwhelmed” by the reception she had received.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever come across,” she said, “It’s so flattering and I am really excited about being here. Thank you so much.”
