Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden rushed to Los Angeles to be with her father-in-law after an accident left him in a coma.
The News Of The World reports that Mike Hughes – father of Amanda’s husband Chris Hughes – was injured when a car flipped over and landed on him.
However it took two days for doctors to find out who he was as he had no identification on him.
As a result Amanda and Chris cancelled all their engagements and gone to Los Angeles to be by his bedside in intensive care.
“It’s a miracle he is still alive,” said a friend of 72-year-old Mike, who is a showbiz agent. “He was in a coma for two days and nobody knew who he was because he didn’t have any identification on him.”
The couple arrived back in London late last week after spending two weeks in hospital with Mike, as he slowly recovered.
“It’s been a terrible couple of weeks for both Chris and Amanda who have been keeping a bedside vigil but it appears Mike is now on the mend and getting stronger every day,” the friend said.
“He is out of hospital but is being looked after by a nurse 24/7.”
A spokeswoman for Amanda told the paper, “It’s been a very tough time but it looks like Mike is out of the woods and making a full recovery.”
