Danny Dyer has been nominated for sexiest male at the 2014 British Soap Awards.

The actor, who joined EastEnders in December as pub landlord Mick Carter, faces fellow co-stars Ben Hardy and Khali Best in the longlist for the title, alongside Coronation Street’s Marc Bayliss, Ryan Thomas and Chris Gascoyne.

Danny has also received a nod in the best actor category, where he is up against the likes of Coronation Street’s David Neilson, Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley and Hollyoaks’ Nick Pickard.

Michelle Keegan, whose Coronation Street character Tina McIntyre is set to be killed off on the ITV soap, is up for sexiest female, along with Catherine Tyldesley and Georgia May Foote.

Other actresses who have been nominated in the category include EastEnders stars Jacqueline Jossa, Danielle Harold and Shona McGarty, Fiona Wade, Natalie Anderson and Charley Webb from Emmerdale, and Jorgie Porter, Jennifer Metcalfe and Gemma Merna from Hollyoaks.

Michelle is also up for best actress, with former co-star Julie Hesmondhalgh, EastEnders’ Lacey Turner and Nikki Sanderson of Hollyoaks.

Chris Gascoyne – whose character Peter Barlow has been enjoying an illicit affair with Michelle’s alter-ego Tina – has been nominated for villain of the year. His fellow nominees include EastEnders stars Daniel Coonan and Charlie Brooks, Emmerdale’s Dominic Power and Emma Atkins and Hollyoaks actors Greg Wood and Jesse Birdsall.

Fans can cast their votes on the official British Soap Awards website. The first-round of voting will close at midday on April 22.

The British Soap Awards, which will be hosted by Phillip Schofield, will take place in London on May 24.
