Casualty nurse Robyn Miller steps upstairs to give Lofty a shoulder to cry on in Holby City. Plus a very special guest puts in a glorious appearance!

We love a Casualty-Holby City crossover and next week’s appearance of warmhearted Casualty nurse Robyn Miller in Holby City is as welcome as stirring carol singers at the end of a Christmas movie.

Here’s everything you need to know about Robyn’s run-in with Lofty in Holby City. Warning: contains spoilers…

Robyn makes a surprise appearance in Holby when she pops upstairs to deliver a message and runs into her old ED pal Lofty. Lofty, who used to work alongside Robyn (Amanda Henderson) in the busy ED ward, is nursing a broken heart since revelations on his stag do derailed his relationship with doctor Dom (David Ames).

With their wedding plans on hold and dreams of a Dofty-ever-after dashed, Robyn arranges to meet Lofty (Lee Mead) on their next break. Can recently widowed Robyn convince Lofty that Dom is worth fighting for?

Meanwhile, Dom decides to stop avoiding Lofty and dreams up a grand gesture to convince Lofty he’s the love of his life. Will Robyn end up picking up the pieces if Dom’s public display of affection sends painfully shy Lofty into hiding? Or will Dom win Lofty’s heart with his plucky public declaration?

Elsewhere, wedding bells are ringing for one couple at least – it’s Jason and Greta’s big day. They’ve meticulously planned their ceremony but disaster strikes when registrar Lexy Morrell (Jenny Howe) is impaled by a piece of stained glass window in a freak accident and unable to marry the couple!

While Greta’s convinced her big day is ruined, groom-to-be, Jason, enlists Xavier’s help in arranging a last-minute ceremony for the woman he loves. Enter special guest Reverend Richard Coles, who plays fictional reverend Henry De Havilland. Can natural showman Henry help make Greta and Jason’s happy-ever-after a reality? Or will they end up cancelling their plans just like poor Lofty and Dom?

Holby City airs on Tuesday on BBC1 at 8pm.
