Amanda Mealing picks up award nomination for her role as Connie

Casualty fans tuning in this Saturday evening will get a shock because the BBC1 hospital drama isn’t on.

Casualty is something of a fixture on Saturday nights, however, this Saturday BBC1 won’t be showing it as its evening schedule is taken up by the launch show for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing (7.35pm), followed by the Proms (9pm).

Fans of Casualty can at least spend their Saturday evening cheering on Charles Venn, aka Jacob Masters, who is taking part in the new series of Strictly.

Charles has said of his appearance on the show: “It truly is a pleasure to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, to be associated with a show that has such a huge following excites and scares me in equal measure! Dancing on Strictly is going to be quite a challenge but life’s all about testing yourself so there’s lots to look forward to, let the games begin..!”

Casualty will be back the following Saturday. Meanwhile, in other Casualty news, Amanda Mealing, who plays Connie, has a Best Actress nomination in the 2018 Bafta Cymru awards.
