Shaheen Jafargholi has already started filming his role as Marty and will be seen in Casualty this autumn
Former EastEnders star Shaheen Jafargholi, who played Shakil Kazemi in the BBC1 soap, has landed a part in Casualty.
The 21-year-old star, whose EastEnders character Shakil was killed off in May in a brutal knife-crime storyline, will play cheeky ED nurse Marty in Casualty, the BBC has announced today.
Shaheen revealed his delight at winning the part of Marty, saying: “I’m so delighted to be joining the cast of Casualty and continuing to work with the BBC. It’s been a whirlwind few weeks, moving to Cardiff, getting my head into a brand new character and meeting the super lovely and welcoming cast and crew.
“I’m super excited as I have been a fan of the series for years so to get a part in it is fantastic.”
Revealing more about Marty’s personality, series producer Lucy Rafferty said: “We’re delighted that Shaheen is joining the cast of Casualty.
“He is a huge talent with such a warm screen presence and we know he will bring so much to the show. Shaheen plays Marty, who has a razor sharp wit, but he soon discover that being an ED nurse takes more than a cheeky wink and a clever one liner.”
Shaheen has already started filming and will be seen on screen this autumn.
