Carol McGiffin is to leave the panel of Loose Women after more than a decade on the show.
The 53-year-old – who is currently a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother – said in a statement that she had had enough of talking about herself after being a part of Loose Women for 1.172 episodes.
“When the show returns for its 18th series, I will no longer be on the panel,” she revealed.
“I’m sure some of you will rejoice but those who might not be so pleased deserve some sort of explanation.
“I’d been thinking about it for at least a year,” Carol added. “It seems mad to quit one of the best jobs in the world.
“But I felt I’d completely plundered my private life and exhausted my repertoire of anecdotes to the point of boring myself.”
She admitted that the show had been “a bit part of my life” – with highlights including Robbie Williams and Bryan Ferry’s appearances as well as visiting the set of ITV’s sitcom Benidorm.
However Carol added that her decision to quit had nothing to do with her decision to appear on Celebrity Big Brother – which she had turned down in the past despite being asked.
“When the circumstances change, as mine have – you change your mind,” she said, “I’m in it to hopefully have a laugh, make myself look like a right twit, expose my moaning and snoring and earn some money in the process.”
Carol narrowly avoided becoming the first housemate nominated for eviction after being chosen as a potential candidate by Lauren Harries in the secret ‘temple’ on Friday.
