Davina McCall has revealed she cancelled plans to spend a night in the Celebrity Big Brother house – after her husband asked her not to.

TV presenter Matthew Robertson insisted that he does not want to share her with reality TV viewers any more than he does already – despite the fact that McCall said she was keen to celebrate the last ever series by sleeping in the house.

“It was funny, because I said to the producers, ‘Can I go in, can I go in just for a night? Just to go and hang out,’ and then I ran home to Matthew and I went, ‘Oh my God I might be allowed to go in for a night,’ McCall explained.

“And Matthew went, ‘No, I don’t want you to go in for a night,’ and I was like, ‘Why not?’ thinking it was the most exciting thing ever, and he went, ‘But it’s the one bit I don’t have to share of you’.”

“Because I’m always talking about him ad infinitum in interviews,” she added, “and I always say too much and poor Matthew has to put up with a lot from me. And he said, it’s the one bit I don’t have to share, you sleeping, so I’d rather you didn’t. So I’m not going to.”

However she still hinted that “might pop in, you never know”.

McCall also expressed hopes for the final series of the show, saying that she did not want any former housemates to return.

“I hope not,” she said. “I honestly don’t know but it’s never the same, people going back. As my granny used to say about going back with ex-boyfriends, ‘Reheated soup is never as good’.”
